What do (You) want your art to look like?
Make a collage of art styles you want to emulate and post it here

I like the soft transitions of tone and often muted colours of Mucha's work. I would really like to learn how to colour like this digitally.

On top of that I love the one he outlines and find a similar approach in a lot of manga's. Hatching, both in B&W and with colours is also something I enjoy.

I also have a soft spot for anatomy, which is something I've been trying to work on.

I'm definitely on the way with my linework and anatomy but I really don't know where to go to for rendering as I'm still stuck on a very simple cellshade look which while I don't hate is more dictated my skill level than preference.

I like this spread. What is it about your vidya pics you like? The pic itself or the general vvibe from the games they belong to?

Source on the Red Knight down the bottom?

>>7620258
This is a nice and nuanced way of laying out your goals. Also like the spread of works, especially on the M/V/A side. But a lot of the linework on L/S/GS is nice too.

Very nice inspirations, Mucha is a great source for just about any approach, it'll go great with the others if you marry them. Love the pulp work, too. It's all good.

>What is it about your vidya pics you like? The pic itself or the general vvibe from the games they belong to?
The pic itself, the lighting, the atmosphere, texture work, just about all of it. Plus I love 3D modelling so they're an inspiration for that, too, I plan to do a lot of multi media stuff.

I'm glad i'm not the only one... I'm rooting for you too anon.
I've been flipping through my artbooks lately and trying (again) to emulate and pick at details from artists I like but somehow there's this feeling of "How do I want it to look anyway...?". Not that i'm out of ideas to draw (I mainly draw fanart) or not know what I want to convey with my art but it's like... I like too many things and I want to get good to a point where I can just pivot to any style I want with good foundations. Artists from Capcom, Yoshinari, Rinotuna and Hungryclicker. I guess artists who can work with any style while still maintaining some of their distinct quirks /is/ my final goal but I can't get to that point if I don't start with at least /something/. That 'something' is not clear to me at the moment. I wish I knew the answer.

>>7624331
I'm rooting for you too! It sounds like you have similar taste in art as me.

For me, I think its because I have some perfectionism and want to be "efficient". I've been told to just pick an artist I like and go for it. It's helped alittle in the past, but then I fight boredom when it becomes more routine. But it can help. I don't know if thats the answer, but I hope you can find it too! You got this anon :)
Anonymous No.7624393 [Report]
I want to be able to make art that has high appeal to effort ratio so I can focus on telling stories. My perfectionism prevents this and I keep going back to refine things that's probably already fine as it is.

Made a new one and tried my best to narrow the scope down. I'm still a bit lost because while I admire these artists, it's not really that I want my art to resemble theirs very strongly. Moreso the technical skill. I also admire animators in general (trigger/gainax or indie/freelance). Some influence from these has seeped into my work for sure but nothing definitive (skill issue on my part).
>>7624365
The perfectionism is real. But also choice paralysis because I get drawn to one kind of style, try it, then realize I don't actually want to draw like that in the end. I've definitely gaslit myself into a negative feedback loop. I haven't stopped trying at least. Thanks anon, I hope you're blessed with gains.
