When was the last time you drew a delivery to drawthread request?

I drew my last one 3 years ago. Stopped drawing for drawthreads because it was revealed one guy spams majority of the reqs and tries to run the different boards' drawthreads.

About the same timeframe and stopped for the same reason.

That's dedication. He truly loves his 2D girls. The worst possible thing that could happen is that you draw, though.

I've done a bunch over the years and I'm working on one right now
It helps me get drawing when I'm stuck. I only draw characters I like so I don't care if it's a spammer or not.

Intentionally posted in a wrong thread in which the requester should be hanging out. Because of request spam, naturally.

I often ask for requests, draw them and end up so disgusted at the end result that I just never deliver.
It's happened at least 4 times this year. I feel like I let everyone down.

i donโ€™t usually instigate request topics, but every once in an age i ask for something. then i always draw back if someone does fill my ask because iโ€™m so wildly grateful i donโ€™t know what to do. last time was pretty recently.

About five years ago. I have a Patreon now and I would feel bad for drawing requests on /v/ again. It would be fun to return but everyone would immediately recognize me. I learned how to draw in those threads...

Never. Fanart is boring to me. The request threads are nice though. Since they are basically model sheets.

About 4 years? None of the requests tickled my fancy, and digging through them to find a fun one was as much effort as just coming up with my own ideas to draw, if not more so.
So many of them are just annoying, like
>"Louis Lane in Sandy Cheeks' diving suit, winking sultry at the viewer",
>"Fred Flintstone, but he's on the USS enterprise from startrek"
>"What if Velma from Scooby Doo was friends with meg from Family Guy"
>"What if X property and Y Property were mixed together?"
They just felt uninspired, which left me feeling uninspired. Not to mention most, if not all, were sexual (I didn't mind too much, but it just added to that bland flavor)

I'd prefer to do drawing exercise threads on here, like /dtiys/ threads, because they don't feel so insipid.
Though I haven't even looked in a Drawthread in yonks, so perhaps my memories of them are skewed?

Probably six years? Was for a /v/ thread. Was a crappy paper and pencil thing since I didn't know how to draw at the time. Still don't. I still draw but I do it for /co/ threads and personal accounts now a days.

Aren't the majority of those specifically from one guy?

Wouldn't shock me, given how monotonous they were. So trying to find the posts from others, who did match me tastes, was too annoying.

Not quite a drawthread but I made a goblin token for the mtg Commander thread on /tg/ so they'd stop using AI. One anon actually printed it on cardboard, it made me very happy

A few years ago we started to notice the draw threads becoming shit, the same awful requests being requested over and over as the first 30 posts in every thread.
Turns out its a single fag that makes every thread the moment it hits post limit and spams his own requests every thread and the same ones in every board too.
If someone else made a draw thread he would go derail it or spam it.
Pretty sure he's still around since the requests are still shit. He would also do it on other chans

I want to try doing some but I'm always discouraged by the very real possibility of the requester being some mentally ill troon.

the stress of having to avoid the drawthread lolcow every time generally makes it too much of a hassle + the fact that some boards literally have an "ai sketch" thread where people will just take your sketch and img2img it.

what i used to do was just ask for people to request stuff in generals that i was a regular in but nowadays they mostly post AI and i legit feel demotivated when i see "doing some AI gens guys, any requests?", so i dont bother.

honest advice, if you wanna do sketch requests do it for your friends, commissioners, other artists, etc. the venn diagram of drawthread requesters and AI prompters is a circle.

But my last delivery before that was in late 2023, IIRC.

>the venn diagram of drawthread requesters and AI prompters is a circle
Not literally true. Prompting is a bit time-consuming and surprisingly expensive. To gen really good images you have to buy prompting credits, which run out quickly, or rent or buy a GPU, and if you want a particular character or style that the base model doesn't know, you have to make a LoRA which costs hundreds of dollars at a minimum. Or wait like a poorfag and hope that someone else makes and releases the LoRA you need.
Requesting is free and takes scarcely more effort than looking up one or two references.

The guy spamming requests is hooked on having others to draw for him. AI doesnt give him the kicks. He wants to feel in power. Same reason he wants to run the threads and is hostile to anyone else making thread or artists msking threads with no requesting

you are severely overestimating the effort required for ai, tons of people have powerful gpus just for gaming, and image generation isnt actually that gpu hungry compared to other ai shit. There is also a billion different models and loras already out there. And making a Lora just requires a good collection of images, some tagging and a bit of training it doesnt cost hundreds of dollars.

(I used to be a huge AI fag, before I grew tired and disgusted by it and picked up a pen)

not him and maybe something changed, but it was pretty expensive/time consuming if you were trying to get an actually decent image in high resolution
the sheer mass of models, checkpoints and loras is also not a good thing for anyone autistic enough to have an oc or a retarded fetish because now they have to sift through it to find the "right one"
back when ip count was still a thing, you could see the /tg/ slop threads were the same handful of guys spamming their shit into the void and they've been ran off the drawthread (which was already dead due to unrelated factors making drawfags leave)
I played with AI a lot, both image and text gen, and it really takes a certain kind of person to stick with it without getting bored and disillusioned
all the discords I'd joined are now dead and when they were active it was clear most people were having fun trying to unironically engineer prompts to make it produce certain results, not with the result itself
