Always thought the dude was kind of overrated.
Talented and influential? Sure.
Prolific? Certainly.
Great enough that his name should become synonymous with great artists? Nah.
The best thing about him is that he inspired that Modern Lovers song.

He deserves every bit of notoriety he’s maintained. Picasso was a master. Many of the works you maybe think are sub-awesome are probably fakes. His body of work has been diluted by fakes, negatively effecting on his reputation in the minds of those who can’t differentiate between fakes and originals— hundreds if not thousands, of people trying to make a quick buck.
It’s all about soul with Picasso. You get a sense of an ancient and brutal spirit when looking at his art.
