Please stop projecting hate, and work on yourself, find God, find love and do what you love. It's not hard, it's not guaranteed success, but it's much better than whining. Be the change? No, be better than yourself yesterday will do.

i want to and kind of trying to, but im terrible at copying, and a part of me doesn't want to lose the style i already have, even if im chronically devoid of inspiration drawing normally.

when i look at those artist that still draw in the old styles, write new songs in the old way its so good every time i feel happy and inspired. it isn't nostalgia, it was objectively good

That's like the number 1 reason artists who grew up on the internet circa like 2002-2014 were so shit, refusal to let go of what they thought was their style.
Just ditch the idea of being original until you're good and then develop it back. Having a voice is the easy part, that's innate unless you literally want to be a clone, which you don't, presumably.

Dude if you know how it sucks to let go of your current style you can imagine other artists probably feel the same way and prefer drawing a different way over the old style.

Also IMO you should have more than one style. There should just be one definitive way you illustrate/animate.

i remember when i was first learning how to draw, i felt like there's like a billion artists, it was just so more than I could consume, like i didn't need to do art at all. now its like a ghost town.

artists please come back, i didn't know i needed it. like wtf this is terrible.

you say that but that was precisely the kinds of styles i liked the most, cute girls drawn by cute girls, it was after that it went downhill.

I'd save bad drawings on deviantart if i found them charming, and stopped saving impressive drawings out of obligation, because i realized i didn't actually like them, it taught me that charm and appeal is everything. its been very unusual seeing ic go from fundy ref nerds to soul/appeal maxing, because well, I basically always believed in that.

All my favorite artists are dead. You are like a baby.

I agree. I think AI generated art has revived the interest in soul and appeal over rendering and realism.
I still have my old deviantart account from 2011 with tons of favorites that have the 2010s art style i love. It's like a time capsule. Back then we roasted them for not being in the popular semi-realism style but now we miss them. Very "where have all the scene girls gone"
