Question: If you had near infinite time and were just starting out drawing what sort of method / practices would you do to maximize growth? Seriously just imagine if you could fill hours upon hours of time every day, especially weekends, what would you do

Every day I would do 1:1 master studies, then afterwards draw my own "master work", using both ref and imagination.

I'd watch top tier video courses like the stuff you find on New Masters Academy, Watts Atelier, and maybe Schoolism.
I'd read the best drawing and painting books like Scott Robertson, James Gurney, Andrew Loomis, Bridgman, etc.
Then I'd do master studies of real life, photos, and my favorite artists.
Honestly if you want to get at least decent fast enough then just binge Marc Brunet youtube channel like Khyle(ri) did.

>the power of the literal time I have
Time is the most valuable currency, even more than money itself. There's a saying in my country that some people (wagies) waste their life working while others (capitalists) pay them so they can use their time traveling, fucking hoes...
I use to play games and watch anime all the time in the 2010s when I was a NEET but in the 2020s I'm focused on learning money making skills and I'm so much better off for it, you don't wanna have a lot of time and waste it all like I used to, it makes you depressed.
BTW I make a lot of money now but I still feel like a neet because I work from home lmao.

then i would grind cast drawings to learn observation and values

If I could go back to the start I'd focus on it. It makes learning forms intuitive and consequently rendering/lighting and color follow much more naturally.

In other words just draw a bunch of shit, a large variety of shit from different angles

Ive also heard early on it isn't a bad idea to take something, trace over it, and then just and draw it free hand and compare your trace to your sketch to note where issues are

If I had infinite time and was just starting out, I would focus on drawing from life and funmaxxing (drawing what I like). If you don't study the world around you, how could you possibly create your own?
When I first got into drawing, I just drew what I wanted. Letting the ideas out of my head and getting them on to the page helped clear up space for the new ideas to grow for tomorrow. I wasn't great at drawing, but my sketchbooks flourished with creativity, and they were my pride and joy. I tried to get serious about my art in high school, so I began to study all the time. My art became technically better, but all the fun ideas in my head began to rot and my creativity withered away into nothing. I never had any new ideas because the old ones had calcified in my head. Drawing became a chore, and I quit in 2021 because of a terrible professor I had in college. I eventually started drawing for my own enjoyment in late 2023, and I've been drawing every single day since then. If your creativity has died or never lived, I would just start with drawing from life until you get to a skill level to draw what you want.
(Sorry for writing like a flowery faggot, I know what I am)

Find someone with experience in art, someone who you trust and that is willing to help you, not go online to ask strangers for help, that is my only advice for you. Good luck, may the Gods and the muses guide you to the right path, stay dry and safe.

I'd learn animation, personally. Even if you don't get into the intricacies of creating actual reels or have any lofty ambitions. The way animators train figure, perspective and their characters are very charming and full of life. I wish I didn't stubbornly go into illustration back in college thinking of labels too rigidly. Train like an animator (up to a point) I guess, is my advice. Often I find some animators better artists than some illustrators. Depends if you prefer to paint/render though then this wouldn't apply to you.

If you had infinite time, then by comparison, your motivation would be near zero. You need limited time to psuh you to do things, otherwise you'll just lie in bed and jack of all day. Infinity is not a concept humans can understand.

I wouldn't do anything differently desu. If I knew I had infinite time, I'd take my time with drawing even more than I'm doing now.
Maximising growth though? I guess I'd explore more types of media, take more inspiration from other artists and do more collabs.

Yeah, perspective and observation are the most important art fundamentals by far.
Anatomy is optional, icing on the cake.

Drawing's not fun, unless you're autistic.
>>7629390
Minmax is funny, because if you think about it, the "80/20 rule" apply to every skill you learn including drawing, so you better off reading just 1 Loomis or Vilppu book instead of all Christopher Hart books, you can avoid Chris altogether.
You can avoid those meme draw manga books too, specially if they're not from Japan.
