Assuming you mean 10k pixels, then DPI means literally nothing unless you want to print.

I still don't get why /beg/s still perpetuate this ancient meme. They'll talk about using at least 300-600 DPI despite drawing on a pixel-based canvas and exclusively posting their art online.

DPI can have an effect on file-size and therefore readability. Personally, I just set that shit to 1, ain't nobody printing in this day and age.

I once had the unit set to centimeters instead of pixels and it worked just fine.

The autosave is what causes the crash a lot of the time. Large canvas = large filesize = longer save times = larger window where the program is unresponsive and an accidental input can cause it to crash. Just learn to save manually and you'll get a lot less crashes.
