I really need to find the best way of simulating this type of painting digitally. I know most of you here don't even draw, but maybe someone can recommend brushes or techniques of doing so.

It might help if you look into what the original medium you're trying to emulate is - and it looks like it might be pastel, rather than paint, to me.
From there, just look up tutorials on emulating that particular medium digitally.

Paul bonner is a water color and gouache guy, so you'd want to try water color simulating brushes(kyle t webster), some textured brushes, and paper overlays. Then apply a noise filter on top, dust, scratches etc from overlays
