How do I get the patience to actually finish a drawing? Anyone else experience this problem?

Why not just put the drawing down and return to it when you feel motivated again?
Bigger drawings usually don't get finished in a single sitting - at least for my slow ass anyway.

>I go to pick it up again
>"Fuck I drew this?"
>alters/corrects it
>still never finishes it

I think this is more of a problem with digital art because eventually you have to call it a day on traditional mediums because the paper/canvas can only be abused so much.

I have the same issue. Solution was to embrace a more sketchy style and speeding up my process.

Set yourself some kind of limit, not necessarily for all the work you do but every now and then. Give yourself, say, 3 hours to finish a particular piece and then stop, even if it feels like it needs "just a little tweaking". Keep the size and complexity on a level that you can accomplish within that timeframe, and maybe like >>7638482 suggested try a more loose/sketchy approach. Aim to produce these quicker pieces while working on more refined work, like 1-3 a week or whatever pace feels comfortable to you.

I am an eternal procrastinator myself so take my advice with a grain of salt, this is just how I aim to tackle this problem. I guess it's a fairly common issue when you just draw for fun. If you think about the pros in the industry, or any field outside of art, naturally they have deadlines to meet so the work must be planned accordingly. No doubt many feel like the piece they work on "could use more time in the oven" but time is not often on their side. So I guess the thing one must get accustomed to is "letting go" and moving on.

I dont want to draw anymore. I took a day off and it was great and now I forgot how to force myself to draw.

Yeah me, it's because my pieces take like 8-10 hours to finish

look I thought about this a lot, the answer is that you do what you value / what you want, you don't think putting in the hours to polish a sketch is worth your time, subsconsciously, so you never do. If you were to only draw for, say, expositions, you would finish all your drawings, because now it's super worth it.
so basically either change your art objective, or value secondary things on the monotone act of polishing, like a semi meditative state, or it being fun while watching videos on the background or something else
in my case I gave up temporarily and just pursue level 3/5 of polish for social media, while doing 4.5/5 for commissions and such
