Not sure if this is the correct board, but can we have a lapidary thread?
Rocks that you have polished, your rock art, cool rocks you have found in the wild.
What is the best equipment, tips tricks?
I got really lucky at a estate sale and was able to snag a loritone oscillating flat lap fl15, amd a 6 inch cab king with a cutting attachment for less than 1000.

Pic related is one of my more recent projects.
Ruby in kayinite. As you can see i am still working on getting a consistent shape, and getting the bevel to go all down more.

Back side of the stone.
I don't know how well it does across in the pictures, but but I think that i made the wrong face of the stone the front.
The Ruby's on the back are much more prominent.
The actual frunt i did had more Rubys when I started, but they ground away.

A pice of stramatolite i did on the oscillating flat lap. This is a stone i found in the desert and cut myself. It turned out wonderful, and I think the Coneish shape in the middle is a fossilized snail. I have been told you can find them in the area.

A pice of petrified wood i also did on the flatlap.
Got a nice mirror finish I am quite pleased with how it turned out except for the impurity on the left had side of the stone.

Yeah, I'm doubtful anyone on this board partakes in this hobby, but I imagine /diy/ or /out/ would give you more luck if it doesn't work out here.

this oneโ€™s especially stunning. itโ€™s like itโ€™s its entire landscape or origin in microcosm, the core of which you can hold in your hand. dunno how else to say the feeling it gives me. way cool.

thereโ€™s something absurdly cool about polished rock art. i used to decorate my house with some of them.

I see everyone already mentioned /diy/ but I just wanted to say this is cool, the petrified wood especially.
