If you don't spend at least 6 hours in a single piece, then you're either a pro or you are drawing slop.

If a piece is worth to render it worth to over render.

I lost my creative will a long time ago. Everything I draw is slop with proer anatomy, perspective, and rendering. I'm not even an artist anymore, more like a mechanic or a builder.

6 hours on a single piece would unironically raise your skill level higher than 6 months of only studies

Pros often spend way more than 6 hours though. It's not unheard of an illustrator to spend 50+ hours on a single piece.

Not every drawing has to be some tight perfectly planned thing. Sometimes a good piece of art can be very simple, and anything more would have ruined it. Sometimes a good piece of art comes out quickly and loosely like a scribble.

My thoughts is that a piece should be given as much time as it requires, and too many forgo that and just say it's done when they know they could push it further.

How many assistants were used in the making of that piece?

Reps > everything else. There's a reason animators are better draftsmen than illustrators.

Now you can truly say with your full chest that you tried your best, and it'll sting even more when we laugh at you for it.
