Does /ic/ duse their own lettering styles much? I'm starting to do comics and images with text and I'm aiming to do hand drawn ones over generic manga ones.

Convert your handwriting to font?

I make comics in enough volume that hand-lettering everything is a complete waste of time. I can't make a better font than the font makers themselves so I just find one that fits the style and use that.

I hand letter, but I agree with other anon that it's a massive waste of time. Lettering on a tablet feels really bad compared to paper. It's just a pain in the ass, slow, lots of hand cramps.

Lettering is an entire thing of its own. Doing it trad had the ames lettering guide as one of a few things that were commonly used. There's specific stroke orders people developed for legibility and spacing purposes. It's one of those things that is the crossover between art and engineering, weirdly, because both comics and diagrams needed clear text placed into images.

As everything that requires hand-eye coordination, it is.
Which boils down to the fact that you need talent for it, and if your penmanship sucks, chances are, you will die as a permaprebeg

This is a page from an pipefitter textbook. Any boomer can learn to letter, so can you. It's just its own skill.
My handwriting was awful and now I can already make it nicer and more readable despite only having written a few things in this style.
