well yeah you'd actually learn how to paint exactly like the old masters if you paid for his courses where he just says to paint the owl
and get this... if you go to another dude and pay for his courses, you'll get the same exact course

You're not gonna like this but here goes.
Being able to match color, and being able to maintain proportion, are skills that one develops after lots of practice. So for experienced artists it will really seem like just putting the right color in the right place. They may not realize this advice is useless for beginners.
So finding the correct things to practice is essential.
Do color matching excercises, paint and draw from reference a lot. This is where the benefits of an actual teacher come in but many of us have to figure it out ourselves.

youtube is completely useless for drawing. for most skills, actually. the moment you see a link in their description that leads to a store page is the same moment where you disregard what they say and click off the video. desu you can probably just tell from the """""aesthetic""""", the thumbnail, and how much youre learning
