Anyone use a TourBox for digital art drawing? I can't seem to find any reviews that aren't sponsored. The site seems shady, and I can't find anything similar in retail.

There is no other retail equivalent. What you would want is just one of those mini keyboards if you arent comfortable with buying some weird gimmick box. Either way its main selling point is convenience and saving time, its not like you actually NEED this shit

I have heard of this brand before, but also other companies make basically the same thing. Usually its advertised as being for video editing.

Kind of what I'm thinking. Like for animations. Something to scroll wheel thru frames, and easy canvas manipulation. (Rotate, zoom, etc)

It's real. Mostly for editors but a lot of artists use them, everyone I've known thats had one liked it.

>>7648507
Yeah I've luckily only had one tabmate and its lasted years but I've also been super careful with it. The new one might be better, but the build quality on the old version is cheap and delicate. Scroll wheel and buttons have issues.

I was thinking of getting a Tourbox Lite but I think I would like just a few more buttons without getting into layers of macros. I found a new workflow I like in which shortcuts beyond brush size changing and undo/redo would be handy to have. I'm looking into getting a macro keypad like a Razer Tartarus v2 or a secondhand Logitech G13. Too bad there's not many options for one of these that have a joystick.

So avoid if you don't want to draw slop.

What's the name of this kind of thing? Gaming keypad? Looks like Tartarus is hard to find outside the US and certain countries. So I'm looking for alternatives.

They're called (one handed) gaming keypads. You can find ones without a joystick on the side for pretty cheap like this Redragon K585. I do have an old one but its got noisy switches. The other difference is that the Tartarus has dedicated keys that aren't the standard WASD like other keypads do, you can work around that by changing your shortcuts to match what's on it.
>>7650291
I want the G13 more but the Tartarus is the closest modern version and logitech refuse to right this wrong.

I've used one for 2ish years and have a hard time drawing without it.
It's not worth $250, but for the $70 I paid for a 2nd hand tourbox elite, it's one of the best purchases I've ever made.
It's easily the best macropad on the market.

not him but for me its because of desk space, a normal one would be too big. you can put it in the perfect spot for good ergonomics too, your hand always rests in the same spot so it's important to be in a good position for your wrist. the wrist pad helps with comfort too. a split keyboard isn't as ergonomic, and moving it back for normal typing would be annoying too, I want my setup to be ready whenever I want to draw. also you can set all the keys to be custom since photoshop lets only certain keys be shortcuts. once you get used to it, it is like second nature and your workflow speeds up a lot.

Same, I'm drawing on iPad and there's an official app where you can bind keys and key combos. Never tested it on my computer but I think it retains the settings (you can actually create different profiles) so you don't need to use a third party software like joy2key. Sure the tourbox looks like it has better ergonomics, but something like the 8bitdo micro for a fraction of the price is enough for the shortcuts I use.

It just seemed like a dumb question to me. I assume you don't draw, because the use case for a tourbox should be extremely obvious for an artist.
It's a macro pad with a bunch of uniquely shaped buttons and dials in a spread out configuration.
It has a shitload of buttons and modifier keys so you can map every shortcut you could want, it's almost impossible to hit the wrong button so you never have to look away from your screen, and 3 dials are extremely useful for things like rotating canvas, zooming in and out, and changing brush size.

seems insanely overpriced for what it is and what it does. i ended up just buying a $30 macro pad off of aliexpress and mapped shortcuts to it.
got myself an 8bitdo micro for on-the-go shortcuts on the ipad as well. it's pretty good, but i'd never use it at home. too cramped.

Correct. Their controllers have on board memory you can save the profiles into. It's very nice.

I use a Shuttlepro v2 with photoshop and it works great. The wheel is perfect for increasing/decreasing brush sizes.
I haven't really tried it with clipstudiopaint more than a few times but also seems to work if you set custom controls.

Highly recommend it, you dont need all that crap that the tourbox has, I actually have both and prefer the shuttlepro v2.
Idk why more people don't talk about this product.

Probably because it's still over $100 for something with less functionality than every drawing company's macro pad. Why would I get that over the like $30 huion one

Canโ€™t speak on the Huion since I donโ€™t have it, but Iโ€™ve used the ShuttlePro V2 and I prefer it over the TourBox based on ergonomics alone.
The buttons are snappier, with faster actuation, and it feels great to use in Photoshop. Itโ€™s more intuitive, has more buttons than the similarly priced TourBox, and the dual wheels are better designed too.
TourBox feels too bulky for my taste.
I got my ShuttlePro used for $60, but obviously prices can vary depending on where youโ€™re located.
Like i said, if youre looking for more buttons that are positioned naturally, then the shuttlepro is the way to go.
