put the sketch on top, adjust layer mode until it stands out more
you can even add a layer effect like an outline or color overlay if you have to

Make a copy of the sketch layer in case you need it again - assuming you like painting directly on the sketch.
Alternatively, you could just work through it. How do you think actual painters work? At some point they're losing the under sketch, and just gotta plow through.
