Say what you want about furries but they're creative as hell.

if I had a button that would instantly kill all furries, I would press it as quickly as possible, hoping that all of their deaths were slow and painful

I will say that the composition and lighting are pretty fantastic. You're almost certainly going to look at the reflection first, notice the creature behind the reflection, look towards the 'real' figure only to then essentially be jump scared by that figure staring directly at you with a rather eerie creepy pasta style face - good stuff. It leads the eye better than any image I can currently think of, off the top of my head anyway.

Honestly though, why have such a hard hitting serious looking image... and make it a furry image?
People do this shit with fanart for goody looking characters like those from steven universe too. Why waste your sick image concepts on such shitty character designs that actually devalue and take away from the image as a whole?

This wouldn't actually work if it wasn't a furry, I think.
The fact that the furry head is not entirely humanlike means its more difficult to jump to each step, since our perception (generally) picks out human faces in things really easily. It also increases the creep factor of the last one because its like when a dog goes from friendly to vicious. A bit similar to the dog in The Thing.

what really gets my goat about this image is that it's really effective as a horror image but it's titled after a lemon demon lyric lmfao

The furry improved the concept. Better contrast and the lack of extreme detail makes it eerier.

Yeah, I'll agree and say that's OP's image is far better. The lighting and such worked far better - you can already see that the face on the right is looking at you before directly looking at her, partially because her posture indicates so, whereas the silhouette in OP's image makes it look like he's looking at the mirror, until you directly look at him.

Great image idea though.

The furry one is better, it's way more effective when you don't draw the eye straight to the scare.

Yeah, dimming the eyes immediately makes it more impactful, though it doesn't change the fact that her posture is different from the reflection which also gives away the 'reveal'.
The Furry one really is a vast improvement.

how do you even cone up with stuff like this? im only a year into art so basically all ive been doing is using photo references, so how do I make the jump from just copying a photos composition to creating unique things on my own?

The first one looks like it's about possession. We see a demon surrounding and attacking the character in the reflection, and when we see his real body, well... he looks pretty possessed to me.
So a simple quick horror story in a single image.

The second one is some chainsaw man shit, and I've never read it, but I guess that character is creepy or something? Who the hell knows.

Daydream more. Watch/read more horror. Look at natural stuff irl close up to the point it looks bizarre. Go to an aquarium or zoo. Wander around at night in your home or out in public/inhabited places long afterhours. Watch videos on urban exploration (don't actually do this yourself it's often very illegal and requires PPE and proper handling clothes because of mold, degrading toxic materials like paint, metal, and leaking chemicals and other shit, which can get brought into your home)
