Something tells me no one in here knows how to draw but they keep giving advice anyway. That's like asking a self proclaimed surgeon how to do heart surgery but the surgeon doesn't know how to do it but says the how to it anyway

You're right. We should just post art and don't talk about anyone's art.

>he thinks someone's status in a field is related to their understanding of theory and skill as a teacher
ngmi and you're liable to be taken for a ride by grifters who can't teach but need another income stream

They definitely won't be better at teaching compared to a teacher with a long history of successful students under his belt

Yup. But teachers are often not that good themselves.
Still, every teacher started with 0 students.

When Vilppu and Huston die, then what? Will they have successfully condensed all their expertise and knowledge into their video courses? I wouldn't count on it.

there is no "how to draw", there is only "how to learn".

I'd say it's more like one medical student seeking advice or information from another medical student - You don't need to be a master to have information that others may want.

you don't need to be able to do something yourself to be able to critique a final product. if a surgeon kills 60% of his patients, you can probably say that he's making critical mistakes, even if you've never been to medical school and you can't exactly figure out what he's doing wrong.

there's actually a pretty big step between "knowing nothing" and "being good at something" which is "knowing something but not being able to execute it well"
