Funny you say that. One of my first posts on this site, was posting my work, and getting shit on. It's been so long that I don't remember exactly what I posted, or who said what. But I remember it was on a red board. So it might have been /ic/ In any case, I was bummed for a short time. But I got over it. Before I posted on 4chan, I was posting on varioius art forums, and getting praised, so I thought I was at least *decent*. I was never so proud to think I was hot shit. But I really had to reassess everything after getting 4chan's opinion.

NTA but that was pretty much my experience when I was a drawfag on /mlp/. I wasn't great but I could put things together with simple 3d forms, so ponies were really easy consistent practice, and that alone was mindblowing to requesters for some reason. I directed other drawfags here when they wanted to get better at drawing stuff like backgrounds or humans and they'd usually come back crying about how awful this place is, and ask why we couldn't just critique each other there.

Then when we tried to critique each other (constructive and civil, like baby's first critique sandwich level shit) and either the drawfag (or even funnier, their orbiters) would flip out and start foaming at the mouth with "wow pointing out areas that need improvement? u basically are insulting!!!" or "i drew that in 5 min you cant blame me", or my favorite "its just the artists style, shut up"

It's like people get so used to the hugbox atmosphere of draw threads. Requesters just gas artists up even if theyre bad because that way they keep getting more free shit all the time, and maybe some of those people will improve and give them quality free shit.
