Let me tell you exactly how i fucked up:
First of all i was NOT supposed to take the multiple elements and separate them. He asked for the crew of a ship using zodiac signs that was looking for the most beautifull star in the universe. Instead of assimilating all these concepts into one, i made a row of what if they're aliens, a row of ship crew, and a row of greek fantasy characters.
Secondly i was supposed to give them tools to make it more evident what they where. They were ment to be a mechanic, a navigator and a captain. It should be immediatly obvious what they were because of the tools they were to carry
Thirdly i completely ignored the fact that they were ment to carry zodiac signs. Geminis, Libra, Aquarius, I coped by saying i would add the elements later on but the character designs were ment to be the ones emanating from the signs, not have fully made designs and then the zodiac signs tacked onto them
Fourth and finally, the entire second row is worthless, the faces should be visible as was specificically said in the assignment, following anatomical, realistic human proportions, no extra limbs, no chibi heads, no child bodies.
