Can having an iconic and recognizable art style that fits the content of your art save you if your draftmanship isn't the best?

Attack on Titan is a bad example of this. It's carried by its writing, not its style.

Possibly, but specifically in regards to your pic, I think people just value being able to read a comic and don't always care about how it looks. The AoT guy actually made something that everyone can hold and read and I think that goes a long way. I can draw better than him, but I have a super difficult time getting a comic put together. That's a skill in of itself.

Yes, and there's plenty of examples. You couldn't think for yourself long enough to realize this? Grim.

People rag on it but it does have a very distinct style. The stylization of the comic as a whole (not just the drawings of people/environments) is quite strong. The SFX (japanese, not the english redraws) are particularly well done. And the drawings are very expressive. It just has relatively weak drawing fundamentals, but evidently not so weak that he couldn't still tell the story.

>not its style.
its style became iconic enough that mappa adapted the specific hatching and way of drawing features from the manga instead of keeping the studio wit artstyle
