What do you mean? Colored pencils are very direct. Where you want a color, you put it there, on the paper. Do so until all colors are where they should be and done. Simple as.

Colored pencils are some of the most tedious medium to use. You can get great EXCELLENT gradiations and blends with them, to a similar degree as oils, and it's - compared to some other forms of art - relatively easy to do so without fucking it up as it mostly stays in place and isn't very dirty once put down.

But to get to high high levels you need a similar amount of pencils as pastel artists need of their sticks, which is expensive on top of using good paper for it. Each piece takes a stupidly long time + intensive planning from the amount of layering you have to do to get it and all the sharpening. If you can do it as meditation, you may enjoy it. But it's fairly niche for all these reason.

This isn't even as impressive as what realistic artists do with prismacolors...

Technically, I would like to know how to get to these kind of levels so i can draw realistic enviroments like how painters did in the late 19th and early 20th century.
I know it might take a while, but i think you oughta do a lot of blend, burn and so on, also light and strong strokes. The way how to use them to reach what i want is what troubles me.

This is an example of their artworks i could manage to get on mobile. Here is another one which exemplifies this guy's art range.

What some people also do is they layer markers or watercolor down for big areas of color and then use colored pencils on top. Or they use watercolor pencils so they can achieve washes. Lots of options.
