Every single thing you listed beyond lighting is up to artistic interpretation (and even lighting can be bent with color grading, tone-mapping, and any number of other tweaks you can do). You don't "study" it because it's ultimately up to you and your evaluation if it conveys the intent you're trying to present. Some of these "fundamentals" ARE useful guidelines, but you have many instances of media like film or art that have broken these conventions to great and powerful effect.
