While ideologies can have major economic impact, there is usualy more behind it. The cubans are not driving old cars because of communism, but because of trade embargo. DDR was fairly good considering it was basicaly used by USSR. Same thing with capitalist democrasies. There is poor ones in africa, there is ok ones in south america and there is Switzerland. Ideology is just one thing, economies are more complex and affected by everything.
