Previously, the Irish economy had been based around sheep and alcoholism
Now, the Irish economy is based around allowing foreign companies to place headquarters within the EU borders but also evade taxes
The ‘real’ Irish economy remains quite weak and the situation may collapse if the EU ever reforms the policies which allow Ireland to function like some Caribbean island

Ireland also benefits from an open border with the UK, as it’s a frictionless land border between the EU & UK. This border, legally, is supposed to be enforced but isn’t due to Irish threats of returning to their traditional practice of bombing British civil servants.

Overall, it’s an incredibly shaky ‘wealth’ and it’s only sustained due to the UK & EU allowing the Hibernian criminality to continue

Ireland does not want a hard border between Ireland and North Ireland because they aspire to reclaim their Northern Territory. The situation, to my knowledge, hasn’t officially been resolved - there isn’t supposed to be free travel between the UK & EU legally but all parties (EU, UK, Ireland) have agreed to a ‘perpetual backstop agreement’ in order to prevent the enforcement of the Irish border, which is obviously the only land border the UK & EU share
