hello hungarians i have a question about paprika

i have had dozens of brands of paprika and they never have any taste. what is it supposed to taste like? smoked paprika tastes like smoke, but we have liquid smoke for that. it really seems like the paprika element here is just food coloring. also lets talk about sweet paprika since yes if you add cayenne to your paprika to make 'hot paprika', yes i can taste cayenne.

it just seems to make it your national spice when there is literally no flavor to it. i can eat it by the teaspoon raw and the texture is awful when you do that, but theres no flavor.

yeah i mean i've done A/B tests on everything, adding towards the end of cooking, blooming it in oil at the beginning. totally raw. doesn't matter, it has no flavor. maybe it is placebo because it does add a red color to your food
