Usually, East Asians take it as a compliment or at least do not feel offended when they are mistaken for Koreans. They react the same way when they are mistaken for Japanese. However, I have never seen an East Asian person who is happy to be mistaken for Chinese. Since the reputation and image of Chinese people are at rock bottom, being mistaken for Chinese by East Asians is like being treated as a low-class yellow person. Even Chinese people in Singapore and Hong Kong prefer to be mistaken for Korean or Japanese rather than Chinese from China, though.
