In my experience, living with them, they're simply able to fast longer than white people can tolerate, or subsist on very little food. One I lived with just munched on a small burger and a few lollies a day, I'd need 4x that food to function.
I think the normalization of fasting in asian cultures is in part due to their ability to do it.

To track you progress you need to weight yourself consistently weeks after weeks, ideally same day same time.
