We capitalise nouns so random wouldn't be capitalised here.

Only nouns are capitalized. I.e. things or actions that can have der/die/das/ein/eine as articles.
The reasoning behind this is that names are capitalized, and nouns are names for things.

>Only nouns are capitalized
This is a lie.

So in The German Language, The Big in The Barn is at the same Level as The Emperor of Germany?
Written languages usually make a difference between persons and objects/animals, even if they are all technically nouns

>The Big

do people actually do this when typing online? cannot imagine have to press shift every other word

Pig is a noun, so it would be capitalized. It's article is not. Gerunds are also nouns, so I would write "Ich komme gerade vom Einkaufen." (I'm just returning from Shopping.)

This hilariously breaks down in English. For example Moon/moon, Earth/earth, Sun/sun. Just don’t bother and make it uniform.

"its"
