A lot of this decline comes from accelerationist capitalism and you can really see it in East Asian countries. But culture plays a role too. Asians generally want kids, so if the conditions were right, many would still have families. On the other hand, Western countries often seem less into having children, sometimes even against it and that’s definitely contributing to more to their decline then it should.

All this while food, air and water quality gets worse and the only people that seem to be doing better year by year are the richest ones running the companies that cause all of this.
I wouldn't mind having kids, but I gotta say my government, my employer, the news stations, most people on the internet and the world at large seems to be hell bent on making that seem as bad an idea as they possibly can. It is disincentivized on all fronts.
