The situation is worse than you think because all the national debt in first world countries, which is like over 100% of GDP in many of them, is priced at the stability of first world interest rates. With low risk comes a generous rate of return.

What's going to happen with all that debt when first world countries are unstable, corrupt thirdie shitholes? It's undeniable that the credit rating will tank. When in twenty years time, the National bank of Canada has to begin refixing parts their interest rate repayments on their 150% debt to GDP at 8-10%? And fixing more at that rate every year.

The only reason the national debt in first world countries is such a non-problem is because of the low interest rates combined with the generous rates of loaning. Japan is holding it together at a rate of 250% for this reason.

It's something that never really gets talked about with the national debt. If the quality of the people degrades, if you have actual institutional corruption in western countries (and believe me, indians in Canada will start taking/asking for bribes soon), then people just won't be as willing to buy government bonds.
