Being a Turk (from Turkey) is like being an American or Brazilian
its a new country and a new identity thats mostly made up, so its more about your citizenship and less about ethnicity
modern Turks are essentially descendants of Anatolian peasants and many of them are very much related to ancient peoples like Hittites and also many more

Nope, Italians, Greeks, Chinese etc are old and deeply rooted identities with ancient history. Many of them have surnames going back 1000s of years,
99% of Turks dont have surnames older than 100 years old

Italy united under Garibaldi at 19th century and let alone having a common identity, many of them didn't even speak Italian unti 20th century.

Greeks lived under Ottoman rule for 600 years, Greek identity and even modern Greek language was created and imposed by Westerner Greek simps.

Modern Chinese identity was created by Mao 70 years ago, he also shaped the culture and language with his perspective. They also still speak different regional languages.
