The only metric that defines how well economy will work is the the level of corruption. Not political ideology, not access to resources, no innovation etc. there are also situations when you have one factor so good that corruption is becoming kinda useless (gulf arab case). You can be ideologically democratic, authocratic, feminist mysoginist, only as long your administration doesn't steal you'll have good functioning economy

The way an economy works is created by ideology and institutions. But abstract political and social ideology regardless of pretty words can take all sorts of forms in practice despite falling under the same label.

>The way an economy works is created by ideology and institutions
And the way it is understood.
It is circular reasoning.

There is a big difference between economic policy and the financial world (its creation), and actual tangible things, trade, etc.

You can only create institutions if administrators don't steal. Ideology doesn't matter as long as it doesn't cause corruption

You are admitting your proposition is the result of circular reasoning?

Corruption is a function of a state's instituitons. Good institutions hinders corruption. Control mechanisms, checks and balances etc. Also that state and local bureaucracy are not political hires. Sadly Trump is reversing this policy in the US. Now they US is going back to the "spoils system" of the gilded age.

You cant bulid institutions if your countrymen who supposed to build them steal money and make them shitty. You could have institutions from heaven but if all people in charge corrupt it will fall apart fast

but metrics for corruption are ironically unreliable because of corruption. the corruption here is normalized and through the roof but it isn't counted as real corruption so the numbers look clean.

Corruption works differently under dictatorship and democracy, so this is not a comparison. Dictatorship is when the government steals, democracy is when everyone steals
