1. I come from a military family whose history spans all the way from the wars of William Wallace/Robert The Bruce all the way up to Vietnam
2. The rest of my life is pretty much ruined but I'm religious so I can't kill myself, so joining the military (particularly a high-intensity special forces detatchment like the SEALs, Rangers, or Green Berets) is the best way of testing if it's god will for me to live or not

Most of it is maintenance (they pretty much only use contractors who gouge super hard because why not) and a chunk of it is gibs to other cunts. The rest is paychecks to soldiers/lifers (military pays like shit but they still pay very good for a military, privates about twice as much as Russia currently pays with all the raises they've given throughout the war).
As for training, they infamously skimp out on that (not that it matters anyway given the U.S hasn't fought a near-peer conventional war since Korea and even that's debatable), which results in a massive competence crisis (the past ten-15 years of woke shit compounds that problem as well).
