Torismundo (420–453) was king of the Visigoths from 451 to 453. His original Gothic name was Þaurismoþs [thôrismoths], meaning "courage of Thor," or perhaps more accurately Þaurismund, meaning "protection of Thor" — Þauris meaning "of Thor," and mund meaning "hand" or "protection."[^1]
