It’s for sure common to identify one’s self based on province and region, no one actually identifies as “Persian” in Iran the way Iranian Americans do. I would say something like “I’m Isfahani” when I visit. Ans yes, I visit very often.

>>211819401
I am unsure, I have nothing against anyone honestly. Maybe only when I am joke posting or baiting on here. I think some people like them and some don't, it will depend on the person and their family. Same with Turks from Turkey in general. Some Iranians really don't like them, but some might. I'm sure you have probably seen how many Iranian flag posters hate Turks lol. I think Azeris in Iran are more inclined to view them favorably.
>Could you give some more examples of each region's/people's defining stereotypes?
I guess I can only speak for myself here, since I am unaware of how it is in other provinces, but people in the nicer parts of Tehran are seen as snooty sometimes. I think there is a valley girl equivalent way of speaking for some of the younger women, or at least that's how it was in the 2010s. The part of Isfahan my dad is from would be seen as kind of backwards, they are what would be called "dahati" or more village/rural type of people.

I don't know anyone in my family who watches Turkish dramas, I know some Korean ones are popular there last I visited. Jumong was one of them. I would say in general some poeple don't like Turks, sorry but I can't speak for everyone. Same with the Arab thing, some hate them in general, but we have people from Iraq in my family so we don't hate them.
>Does this carry negative connotations
Yes, it's like how some people look down on Appalachians I think or maybe hillbillies. It's not a slur or anything, but it is often said in a derogatory manner. It's more classist if anything.
>How does the Iranian view the countryside and it's people
I guess I can't speak for everyone, but I know that some people will view them as backwards. Think of how some people view rednecks as backwards, I think this is the American equivalent.

I've noticed every big iranian movie is about the Holy Defense.
My understanding is that the '79 revolution was somewhat like the chinese cultural revolution, and on that newly blank(er) slate, the war became, essentially, the country's ever-pervasive founding myth. Would you say it's that important? Does it matter less to the young people?

Yes, and Arab-Iranians in general. Ahvaz, Abadan, etc. All predominantly Arab areas and it reflects in their slang, although you would have to be a Farsi speaker to know.
>Are they included in the disdain, or is it strictly foreign arabs
Not in my family, I don't really think the disdain is extended towards Iranian-Arabs, sorry that I can't answer this fully. I just don't want to speak on behalf of others and give you the wrong answer.

Perhaps for the more Marxist leaning older generation of less secular Muslim people, just my opinion though.

I think so, they have slang specific to the region derived from Arabic. As a non Arab speaker, you will have to take what I'm saying here with a grain of salt, but they have slang like that in Iraq. They say "walek" a lot which is the Arab equivalent of saying "bro", they also have a region specific accent when they speak farsi. My uncle was in Abadan for a while so he has the Abadani accent when he speaks Farsi to us.

Yes, there is a lot of negative sentiment toward Afghan people in Iran. To be fair, a lot of them also behave similarly in Europe and other countries as they do in Iran (which I’m sure you’re aware is not good behavior).

Me personally, I have nothing against them and I do not condone that.
