Many Indians despite their support of Israel do not like what it is happening to Iran because not only does Iran and India have good relations but also that the architect of the Islamic Revolution Khoomeini, had roots in India.

His grandfather Syed Musavi Hindi migrated to Khoomeyn in 1834 from Lucknow. The house of his grandfather is still there in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The Islamic Revolution was welcomed by India as the Shah regime was pro Pakistani.

The Swiss see themselves as made up of several groups that are indigenous to that place, meaning a swiss German from Bern will have likely lived there for generations and have a swiss German surname. They make a difference between someome who grew up in their city/village and whose family has always lived there for generations and someone who hasn't. Things are probably different in India, compared with Switzerland, due to its sheer diversity. If there existed a clearer idea of who belongs to the nation they'd use that. Instead they likely just discriminate within that larger identity like in America and Russia.

Why does India even support Israel? It doesn't even make sense geopolitically because India has burned a lot of bridges with the West since Pakistan, Goa, etc, and hasn't really committed to build stronger ties with the West.
