I'm male(gay) in HR and, yeah, this profession is a joke. But, hey, I've a cushy office job and waste my days with busy-work bullshit.
The compliance aspect of things is somewhat tangible, but it's ultimately all made up bullshit regulation propped up by feminized legislators and out of touch boomers.
It'll likely cease to exist in its current form relatively soon. In the meantime, I'll continue to collect my paycheck while some of them other suckers out there welding and getting cancer from the fumes.

Yes. I tested this out years ago and saw the truth with my own eyes. I had a male profile and a female profile (I didn't even need to include race or LGBT shit) with the same resume and background experience. I got tons of responses and job interviews on the female profile and absolutely none on the male profile. Whether it's a coordinated conspiracy or just an unfortunate side effect of diversity programs that were designed with good intentions, there is massive discrimination against males in employment. It can't be explained or coped away, I've witnessed both sides of it with my own eyes.

this sounds like an american problem? i dont really see it here, depending on job obviously its still harder for women to get hired. one of my previous bosses was a woman and consulted with me every time she hired and she said it straight out, she would never hire a woman of breeding age. she will be on maternity leave or taking care of her kids more than she will be at work and she will cause drama no matter what.
in engineering positions women tend to go the uni way while men start in the trades and work their way up with experience. doesnt matter how good grades she has straight out of uni, the dude who worked in the field for years will be preferred.

Ultimately for most jobs, HR is the gatekeeper of giving people out there the opportunity to get the job, or cover for the company in the case of layoffs/firing and such. I don’t know how it works over in Asia land, but it makes sense as to why western people have some disdain for them. The fact that it’s usually women majority in HR departments here is coincidental.
