People maliciously ignore the fact that the Non Proliferation Treaty is "meant" to achieve disarmament as well as prevent countries from acquiring nukes. Nuclear country not only are they not disarming but they are either expanding their stocks or their delivery methods.
It just doesn't make any sense to take the NPT seriously.

Only nukes are a true security guarantee. Once every country who can develop them starts building them there's only enough glowies from nuclear countries to prevent each one from building them.
