Just got back from a trip visiting relatives there. My sun burn has started peeling. Also spent two years there on a mormon mission. I am entirely capable of romanticizing California. But please read carefully: California has peaked. It is because your state is based, you have the best parts of northern california, washington and idaho but without being California poisoned, Portland isn't as big of a shit hole as seattle (yet) plus eastern oregon isn't as bad as eastern washington, and you don't have the reputation of being inland hick flyover potato farmers like idaho. WA State is alright, despite the god-awful people running Olympia. The entire state outside of Olympia and Seattle is innawoods, so the capitol doesn't have that much influence over the way things are done here.
