Au moins OP habite en Europe. Je n’ai jamais rencontré un français dans vrai vie. C’est vraiment bizarre que mon état a une académie française.

On est très exposé à l'anglais avec les jv et internet. J'ai pris l'habitude de faire toutes mes recherches en anglais car les résultats sont souvent beaucoup plus pertinents, sauf bien entendu si je cherche quelque chose sur la littérature française par exemple
Les cours d'anglais du lycée (high school) sont vraiment pas utiles

Just follow the standard Assimil recommendations, then maybe Pimsleur, and keep your eyes on a couple of those YouTube interview channels for modern exposure then you'll be able to understand a huge amount of spoken. French is one of the easiest languages you can learn as an English speaker. I find it mind-blowing that people consider it difficult.
