our names of the week come from Arabic with Sunday being the first day as "Ahad" meaning one
but for the sake of business, Monday is treated as the first day of the week eventhought it's called "Isnin" meaning two

"Lunes" ('Monday'; named after "luna" which is the name for the moon)

Lundi, it's called lundi (not capitalized in french)

Sunday to thursday are full work days
Friday is half a day, in the evening everything is closed up and re opens saturday evening or sunday morning.

In America the first day of the week is Sunday. Ever since I was a child I've though it was retarded. Why does the week start on the weekEND? Semantics aside, it seems natural in my mind that the week would start on Monday. At my office I changed my personal meeting calendar to display with the Monday as the first way of the week and when my boss saw it he got super pissed at me and made me change it back.
