Reminds me a Korean roommate I had in University. Man would go fucking ballistic at me over having AC, fan, heating, etc running through the night.

if you mean the noise, I've been sleeping with a computer (tower with several fans) on 24/7 since I was a teen.
only recently have I switched to a quiet low power alternative.

Like here, people, especially older ones will always tell you to not not keep all the windows in your home open,.cos you'll get sick from the draft, which I always found retarded

Or to no go out with in the cold with wet hair/head.

Actually sickness of draft and fan wind could be easily alleviated by drinking water before sleep. Cuz you perspire even when you sleep. So when wind blew on you it easily lost, and your body keep perspiring as a way to keep your skin not drying too much, hence you feel dizzy when woke up since youre dehydrating.
