You can't buy non-pasteurised milk in most states, but when a giant of fast food kills people with a HUGE E. coli outbreak in multiple states because they were outsourcing onion processing to India (????? wtf man), no one cares.

America's laws about food are pre-refrigeration and very much germophobic.
They are incredibly strict about what they perceive as dirty, rotten and overripe. But they really don't give a crap about heavily processed slop that could last 20 years or stuff that will kill you eventually as long as it has a name they can't pronounce in the ingredients and makes the food look better.
For example, most of the world would avoid foods with words ending with "ant", like currants, conservants, and other stuff that makes food last longer, smell better or look brighter.
BTW, you can get sued for millions of USD in the US if you point out that there is a correlation between autism and formula-fed babies, but nothing will happen if you blame it on vaccines that the babies did not even took.
