what's wrong with telling other people about their country, provided you've been there or know what you're saying? do you have a monopoly on knowledge about your country just because you were born there?

The people that have the best understanding of French politics and society are usually foreigners. I've never met a French person that understood France, which makes perfect sense. The average French has spend most of his life understanding how to function in french society but not how it function. Foreigner have to learn both.
