However, for purely economic reasons we shouldn't be importing common foods from across the Atlantic ocean.

There's nothing wrong with GMOs, hormone implants, additives like Red 40 that are in extremely low dosages in food, chicken washed with chlorinated water. Fear over those is just fear mongering. Ultra-processed foods and processed meats are bad, but its up to the consumer to eat these in moderation.

I would however be concerned about our raw vegetables, we don't do a good enough job making sure there's no salmonella in them, our vegetable safety regulation is more lax than meat safety regulation. Americans get food poisoning from vegetables far more than meat.

Most of the "this additive is poison" articles are shit like "we gave a rodent an extremely high dose that humans would never have and it might have increased the risk of thyroid cancer by 10%".

If you're eating so many skittles that you've had even close to the dose that rats had in the Red 40 thyroid cancer study that gets constantly cited, the bigger concern is the amount of sugar you've consumed.

Then I got on 4Chan and saw literally 1000s of posts of american just shitting themself in public. They also have words like "leaky ass" or "swamp ass" a concept that is unknown outiside of north america. This is not normal. I dont think I even had liquity shits as an adult once. What everthey put in the food over there it cant be good for them.

USA exports beef to Asia.
EU won't take US beef to protect EU beef producers, or because of anti-scientific views on growth hormones. Of course, eggs naturally contain more estrogenic activity than hormone implanted beef in the USA contains.

We don't have any. Except for Ireland, Spain and UK, pretty much nobody has good land for beef. That's why beef in Europe was and still is much more expensive than in the US.
I sometimes buy USDA beef. It's expensive as fuck. Like $40/lbs for prime.

The does of these ingredients are so low in food that any possible effects are basically negligible.
Just because an additive is banned in one place and legal in another doesn't mean its bad. There are also ingredients banned in USA but legal in EU, such as Ponceau 4R, Amaranth, azorubine.

Most studies regarding additives that make headlines involve giving a rat a large amount of it, larger than any dose a human would ever consume. In reality, food additives just aren't a very big problem, and aren't worthy of all the attention they have received. People just need to eat unhealthy food in moderation rather than being concerned over additives that foods contain a tiny amount of.

Its not really worth it for American beef producers to produce beef that align with the EU standards. Aligning with EU standards is very expensive and it isn't going to be that big of a market for American producers anyways, especially when Asia is much less picky and are much bigger beef importers than EU

I really don't care if you eat it or not, its just dumb to be scared of it. Removing Red 40 from skittles isn't going to make skittles healthy.

This isn't meant to be an American vs European thing, it seems the majority of Americans, including our health secretary, also have this anti-scientific view.

We don't know the 'full effect' of anything.
However we have a pretty good idea of the effect of Red 40 considering there's been lots of studies and been used for over 50 years, it makes food look red and has no impact on humans who consume it.

We do however have solid evidence that certain consumables are carcinogenic that remain legal in both the USA and Europe. This includes sausage, bacon, alcohol, tobacco. For these, we leave it up to the consumer to decide whether or not to eat it.

That no studies have been conclusive about it doesn't mean it doesn't have an impact. That would be like saying the lead aqueducts used by the Romans had no impact on the humans that consumed water from them, because no scientific study had proved it.

American bread isn't a singular product.
There's options, some contain contain sugar, some contain no sugar at all. The bread I buy is from the bakery section and is just flour, water, yeast, salt, with no added guar. If some people choose to buy bread with added sugar, that is their choice, its not the governments job to prevent that. The government can't limit the amount of sugar in bread.
