I like Pahlavi aesthetics and their focus on ancient history (muuuuch more than the current durka durkas) but they were kind of just upjumped commoners.

Maybe. But I think it's pretty optimistic of Israel to think they can cause a regime change by just bombing without a ground invasion. Many, many examples of this not working, including Iraq right next door. And EVEN IF this regime collapses, the new one could just as easily be equally anti-Israel. Or Iran could splinter into various factions like in Syria and Libya. Which is arguably much harder to manage security-wise than a single state entity that's willing to negotiate as Iran has been. Basically I think bibi realized he can't bomb rubble in Gaza forever and needed another war to stay in power (and out of prison). But strategically the best you could call this is a "huge gamble" - in other words, really fucking dumb.
