Not in university, but I read Dubliners at secondary school. It's strange how good that book is in comparison to everything else Joyce has ever written, which ranges from mediocre to jibberish.

Portrait of an Artist is an okay novel, it's just nothing special.
Ulysses is garbage, and there's a reason why most of its supportive critics are Irish. I've never met anybody in real life who had a positive opinion of it. The only Joyce novel anyone should read is Dubliners, everything else is just a waste of time.

Joyce is the finest master of the Irish language (not Gaelic, but rather English as it should have been). In his books he perfectly captures the voice of a place and time that you will never see but receive vivid detail about without explicitly rattling off details. And yet, his unconventional literary structures and exploration of the human psyche make books Ulysses timeless because while they are externally hyper-specific to a time and place (turn of the century Dublin), they remain timeless

I'm not Irish and I like Ulysses. You're literally just brainwashed by British government propaganda against the book, if it wasn't deeply moving why would the censors ban it (obscenity is the cope they used)

I always loved working with computers as a kid but did economics/finance in uni because for my boomer generation it was the field to go if one wanted to earn any meaningful money.
Also during my school days the country was shit poor and a computer was a luxury. Eventually PCs/internet became affordable and common and in the 2010s everyone started getting smartphones, so came the need to build digital infrastructure for all sorts of websites/ecommerce and thus the demand for IT guys. Now I see every other kid aged 18-20 studies comp sci.
Sometimes I wonder what if I had done comp sci. But then I see guys my age who did comp sci - they're stuck in IT dept doing minor stuff like installing windows and fixing laptops for boomers. Guess everything needs to be at the right time and the right place.
