Did you know Mississippi has a inflated gdp because of mining and farming industries but the average citizen has the living standards of people on par in slums in Rio and Sao Paulo

It might be poorer strictly economically speaking but being rich/poor on average and quality of life are not the same. Embarrassing that this simple lesson every 6 year old intuitively understands seems to be a multi-year them to discuss to death again and again for millions of people who don't consider themselves to be absolute sheeple.

The main difference is how fucking STUFFED the grid is.

If you make buffers of 5 minutes per stop it's easy to catch small delays.

When you have a small grid you have little butterfly effect.

When you have a very complex grid that's planned to the max with no buffers every minor delay in the morning causes huge delays in the end of the day.

All you had to do to get Germany from the current 90% trains on time to Switzerland's 95% would be scheduling less trains, so they have more buffers.

Mississipians can be poor economically, but if they live in a house with a massive garden even if delerict, with massive space for themselves, with neighbours far away, they are already wealthier than someone who lives in an centric apartment in Paris.

living a modest lifestyle in most of the US is cheaper than living the same in most of the EU, simple as. the vast majority of CoL differences between different countries is in rent/mortgages. if you live in a shack it costs fuck all, your food prices are basically the same as ours and we make 5 times less money. your gas and energy costs are way lower.

The punctuality is around 90%. Only far distance trains have the infamously low punctuality or around 70% but they make up like 5% of all trains.
When I was in Berlin I saw a Czech train and I was horrified what a piece of garbage that was, like something from 40 years ago left to rot.
Like I said above the main problem with Germany is that the grid is too full. Politicians have ambitions for how many train rides there should be without taking the actual capacity into account. The trains, the qualifications of people and everything is fine except for the overly ambitious and unrealistic schedule. Every shitbox can be "punctual" when "punctual" includes a 60 minute buffer on a 100 km track.

People need to be very careful with data like this and what it really says

Germanys GDP per capita very closely tracks to the average income, where as in Mississippi the average income is almost half of the GDP per capita of the state

It’s like taking tax havens and touting GDP per capita while average people there live like lower middle class or workers, but it’s RICH right because some financial sector giants offshore there for tax purposes

It can be useful, but you have to look at other things than just GDP, it’s a correlation metric

Previously you said no train goes even 250, implying a technical inability.
Now you admit that they go even 300 when permitted.
Cologne-Frankfurt for example takes 80 minutes and that's only because it's forced to stop in two villages in-between. Without these superfluous stops it would be 60-70 minutes. Again that's an issue of the schedule, not of infrastructure or anything like that, like I said above.
What people in other countries mean when they complain about public transport is that it's left in a state of disrepair.
While there are problems they are taken out of proportion.

I took trains in many countries and Germany was the one where I had by far the worst experience. DB would cancel not just the last one but the last two long distance trains, leaving everyone on the platform to figure things out of their own. I was lucky that I had a credit card on me so I could book a hotel room. I had so many delays, cancelations, scenarios where no one knows what is going to happen now, it is the worst experience I had with trains.

And what you say is the exact same cope the government uses here btw.

>Hungarian train punctuality has been a mixed bag recently. While state operator MÁV recorded an 80% punctuality rate for over a million trains in 2024, some lines have experienced significant delays and increases in travel time. There have also been reports of decreased punctuality on certain routes, even leading to a temporary suspension of reporting punctuality data.

>After posting record low punctuality rates for July and August, state railway company MÁV has not published the September data, mass transit campaigner Dávid Vitézy noted on Facebook.

>Only 36.4% of trains with mandatory seat reservations were on time (i.e. less than five minutes late) in July and even fewer, 32.8%, in August. Both figures were record lows.

>The figure never fell below 50% before 2022 and was still close to 45% last August.

Mississippi is lower COL to UK.
