It all depends on the area. Some villages are religious others aren’t but still have an Islamic identity. Some parts of the cities are religious others less so. The most observant Muslims in the Balkans are actually in Macedonia.

I visited Sarajevo a year ago and yes they do. The mosque in the city center were full during the normal evening prayer and there were many women who wore hijabs. I noticed it was mostly young women too. Appearantly they take Ramadan really seriously too according to my taxi driver. They announce breaking the fast with a cannon shot like in Turkey it seems.

The Saudis, Kuwaitis and othe rich arabs literally pay families in Herzegovina to wear hijabs, and a good amount of money. They also pay them to go to the mosque and pray in public. I know this from firsthand experience in Mostar, I don't know if the situation in Bosnia is different but I doubt it is.
