Literally nobody cares about 9/11 except for Amerimutts whose entire childhood was so safe and worry-free that a terrorist attack that killed less than 1/100,000 of America's population was the most note-worthy event of their childhoods.

most people laughed and cheered. i was like 5 yo and remember coming back form school and there were broadcasts from cuba, venezuela etc with people partying and celebrating like they won the world cup.
even back then I thought it weird that a building like that would collapse so smoothly on itself

Weird. Probably the last time the majority of the US public was united in some sentiment and weren't easily distracted by trivial garbage.
It was like initial shock, sadness, then a bit of anger, and then hope. In that order really. But some held onto the anger to this day even. They're no fun.

You go home from school early and your parents are home and watching tv... Not that big a deal

Was in college. Rumors on morning bus, first class teacher had no info so we just had class
Went back to dorm after early morning class and saw people watching the second plane hit right when I walked into the lounge.
Everyone was angry. Saw a Middle Eastern guy pretending to be Mexican. Muslims on campus immediately made it about themselves and how everyone was "looking at them accusingly all the time now."
I tried to join the army, but had a tattoo they didn't like in a place they didn't like. Had an existential crisis and moved to Florida instead. Eventually got over it.

It was good. Better than today. Kids were playing outside, only on the screen between coming home tired and dinner time.
Apparently trillions of dollars had just dissappeared from the US treasury the day before 9/11 but that wasn't picked up by the news the following day.

I remember playing sick that day so that I could play smash bros. Mom demanded the TV and kicked me off to watch it. Had no idea what the deal was.

Was a kid just back from school, playing with some toys. Dad was watching it in TV and i really didnt understand what any of this means. After a while i got annoyed that he wouldnt switch channel to cartoons, because it was getting boring.

The adults were the ones making a big deal out of it.
When the first plane hit the tower it was 9AM here, so I was at school. That day we were let off two hours early due to an absent teacher. I arrived home around 10AM just in time to see the second plane hit live.
I didn’t have much idea of what the fuck was going on, at first I thought it was an accident. When the second plane hit, I thought they were replaying footage or something from the first plane, until the people on TV started freaking out.

We lived in Argentina. It was Teacher's Day so no school. I was sleeping and got a call from mom, who was at work, and she told me to turn on the TV. Back then I was like 8 but was already familiar with the twin towers because I was a huge skyscraper nerd, so I did and watched the whole thing (if I remember right I caught the second plane crash). Watched the two towers collapse etc.
I'll admit for me it was like watching a movie. I could see my parents thought it was something serious, but I spent that afternoon drawing buildings on fire. I still have those drawings somewhere.

I was playing CS, and somebody told me to turn on the TV through the game text chat.

I remember the face of Bush Jr. On the TV while he was in some sort of kindergarden, his facial expression was like he has no idea what was happening or how to react, very similar to a person with down syndrome.

It was an average tuesday, I was playing Perfect Dark coop at my best friend's house when his brother came running telling us to switch to any channel. At first it was being reported as an accident but after the second plane and the one that hit the pentagon, talk of terrorism started to surface. It seemed unreal like a movie.
