The only wild animals the average European will ever see outside a zoo is a pigeon or seagull, occasionally a mangy fox.
Everything else was made extinct centuries ago or forced far outside most human settlements.
I just think that's sad.

I see deer every morning on my commute
The fawns are still in that stage where they stand in the most exposed spots like they're wondering how they got there. Saw one stand atop some farmer's box of tools in the middle of a field and it looked like the next gust of wind was gonna knock it off

It is sad indeed that biodiversity is low in Europe but having wild animals in near proximity to humans is also bad, especially if it's in an urban environment. We have reserves where some wild animals remain and it's for the best that we don't see them often.

These are the noteworthy animals in my area. Seen most of them except bear (have seen tracks and stuff).

There's also wolf but they are so rare I didn't bother including them.

here you can only see them in the half south and they are very rare to find.

Happily their population has multiplied by 10 in 20 years.

Ours is a bit different from the Boreal lynx that you have there.
